Problems with images displaying in my UPK Player file
Q: Images or files are not displaying properly in my UPK Player.
A: Occasionally the images or documents you've included in your UPK Player may not display properly. This could be due to "over-organizing" your files on the server with a folder structure that is too deep. We are often tempted to build a folder structure on our UPK web server for storing files that, while it makes sense to us, makes it difficult for the Player to function properly.
File paths in a UPK web server are limited to 250 characters. When the path exceeds this length, Microsoft Windows automatically begins to truncate the names of the files. When this happens, the UPK Player may no longer find the image or document files you have included in your web pages, and will display the red "X" indicating a missing page or file.
To fix this, simply re-publish your Player package, and move it to a storage location on the UPK Web server that has a minimal number of folder levels. Keep in mind that you still must keep the Player package within the ODS folder, if you are using UPK Usage Tracking, to allow Usage Tracking to “watch” users’ activity in the Player. It may be necessary to re-assign where your ODS folder is located as well.
